Our goal is that every page answers a real question about AI or computing better than what already exists. These rules apply to every page on the site.
Principles
- Useful first. We only publish a page when it answers a real information need.
- Accurate and dated. Every price, limit, spec or rule comes from a cited source, with the date we checked it.
- Independent. Vendors cannot pay for coverage, placement, ranking or wording.
- Transparent. We show formulas, assumptions and what we have not tested.
Where our information comes from
- Primary sources first. Vendors' own pricing pages, documentation and help centers for product facts; model cards and configuration files for model specifications; manufacturers' specification pages for hardware; the Official Journal of the EU and national gazettes for law; original papers for research.
- Secondary sources only point us to primary ones. We do not repeat a figure we cannot trace to its origin.
- No estimates presented as facts. If a vendor does not publish a number, we say so. Our own calculations are labeled as calculations.
- No invented experience. We do not write as if we had tested something we have not tested.
Comparisons and rankings
Comparing AI tools usually involves judgement. When a comparison is based on documentation (prices, limits, features), we say so and do not score quality. We will only publish a ranking of quality or performance when we have run a documented test, and that test will be described on the page: date, versions, tasks, criteria and limitations.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools, including large language models, to help gather sources, draft text and check calculations. Every factual claim is then checked against the cited source, and a person reviews each page and holds editorial responsibility for it before it is opened to search engines.
Our drafting tools are built on Anthropic's Claude. Because we also write about Anthropic's products and their competitors, comparisons involving them rely only on the vendors' own documentation and on independent sources, never on an AI tool's view of itself or of its competitors.
The illustrations on this site are digital 3D renders created for us. They are not photographs of specific products.
Calculators
Every calculator shows its formula and assumptions next to the result, labels example values as examples and runs in your browser. Where possible, we test the formula against real data and publish how close it comes.
Keeping pages up to date
- Every guide shows when its data was last checked and when it will be reviewed next: monthly for prices that change often, quarterly or yearly for slower topics, or on a set date when a rule is due to change. Our publishing system blocks a release if a review is more than 14 days overdue.
- The "Updated" date only changes when the content changes in a meaningful way, and every change is recorded in the page's change history and on our updates page.
- If a page can no longer be kept accurate, we update it, merge it or remove it with a redirect.
Advertising and editorial content
Ads are labeled "Advertisements" and never look like editorial content. If we add affiliate links, they will be labeled on the page. Editorial decisions are made first and independently of any commercial interest. More in our advertising disclosure.
Conflicts of interest
If we ever receive a free account, credits or an extended trial to test a product, we will say so on the page. We do not accept payment, gifts or favors in exchange for coverage.
Mistakes
When we get something wrong, we fix it and record the correction in the page's change history. See our corrections policy.
