Short answer
ChatGPT costs €0 for Free, €8 for Go, €23 for Plus ($20 in the US) and from €103 for Pro (Pro 100, 200 and 500 cost $100, $200 and $500) when seen from Spain; Business seats cost $25 or $125 a month ($20 or $100 billed annually) with at least two seats (€26 or €130 monthly, or €21 or €105 billed annually, when seen from Spain). OpenAI does not say whether its euro prices include VAT, and there is no annual billing for Go, Plus or Pro. We compare published plans, not answer quality.

ChatGPT pricing in October 2026 runs from €0 for the free plan to more than €100 a month for the Pro plans, with Business and Enterprise billed per seat. This page lists what OpenAI publishes for each plan (price, models, context windows, limits and features), checked on October 28, 2026 on its pricing page, help center and release notes. To weigh ChatGPT against its main rival, see Claude vs ChatGPT; for Claude's own plans, see Claude pricing.
What this page is not: a quality ranking. How we checked: this page relies only on OpenAI's own documentation, never on a tool's opinion of itself or of its competitors.
How much does ChatGPT cost?
OpenAI shows prices by country. From Spain, the pricing page shows euro prices; the US prices below come from OpenAI's help center. OpenAI's pricing page, billing help and Europe terms do not say whether the euro prices include VAT, so check the amount on the checkout screen.
Table: ChatGPT plans and prices (October 28, 2026)
| Plan | Seen from Spain | United States | Billing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | $0 | None |
| Go | €8/month | shown on the pricing page | Monthly |
| Plus | €23/month | $20/month | Monthly |
| Pro | from €103/month | Pro 100: $100, Pro 200: $200, Pro 500: $500 | Monthly |
| Business, Standard seat | €26/user/month, or €21 billed annually | $25/user/month, or $20 billed annually | Monthly or annual |
| Business, Premium seat | €130/user/month, or €105 billed annually | $125/user/month, or $100 billed annually | Monthly or annual |
| Enterprise | contact sales | contact sales | Annual |
OpenAI states it does not support annual billing for Go, Plus or Pro. Business and Enterprise are the only plans with annual billing. OpenAI prices the paid plans per user per month.
Is ChatGPT free?
Yes. The free plan includes unlimited text chats with GPT-6, subject to abuse guardrails, plus limited messages with uploads, image creation, voice chats, deep research, memory, Codex and ChatGPT Work on desktop. OpenAI's release notes say Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna, rolled out to both plans from October 8, 2026. Search, projects, study mode, plugins and the built-in browser are listed as available on every plan, and OpenAI lists an opt-out from using your content to train its models on all four individual plans.
What does ChatGPT Go include?
Go is the low-cost tier. It includes everything in Free plus more messages with tools, more uploads, more image creation, more voice chats and longer memory. It adds scheduled tasks and voice with video, and it raises the free plan's limited data analysis and file uploads to included features. OpenAI's pricing page states that the plan "may include ads", while its help center says it "may start testing ads" in Go in the future. Go is available in all countries where ChatGPT is supported, billed monthly.
ChatGPT Plus: what you get and is it worth it
Plus costs $20 a month in the US and €23 a month as shown from Spain. According to OpenAI it includes priority access during high-traffic periods, higher model limits, advanced reasoning, voice, image generation, file uploads and deep research tools, plus projects, scheduled tasks and custom GPTs. The pricing page also lists expanded Codex usage, ChatGPT Work on desktop, web and mobile, sites, image generation with Thinking and early access to new features.
Is it worth it? OpenAI's own wording points to the limits: Plus "may include usage limits such as message caps, especially during high demand". If you keep hitting the free or Go limits on reasoning, deep research or Codex, the documented upgrade is Plus. If you mostly chat, the free plan already has unlimited text chats.
ChatGPT Pro: three tiers
Pro has three monthly plans: Pro 100 ($100), Pro 200 ($200) and Pro 500 ($500). The Ultrafast option is included only in Pro 500. The Pro plans add Pro reasoning powered by GPT-6 Astra, longer Codex and ChatGPT Work sessions, the always-on agent called Dot, unlimited and faster image creation and maximum deep research and memory.
OpenAI changed Pro 200 in late September: new subscriptions include a lower usage allowance than before, while subscribers active between September 22 and 29, 2026 keep the earlier allowance only through October 29, 2026, after which their subscriptions move to the lower allowance too. The price stays $200. Credits can extend usage for eligible features such as Codex and ChatGPT Work once the included allowance is used.
ChatGPT Business and Enterprise
Business (renamed from ChatGPT Team on August 29, 2025) is built around two kinds of seat. Standard seats cost $25 per user per month, or $20 billed annually; the pricing page seen from Spain shows €26 billed monthly or €21 billed annually, for teams of 2 to 200. Premium seats cost $125 per month, or $100 billed annually (€130 or €105 seen from Spain), and include 5x more usage than Standard seats and no five-hour usage limit. A workspace needs at least two seats in total, and you can mix seat types. OpenAI states it will not train on a Business workspace's data. Enterprise is sold through OpenAI's sales team, with invoicing available as a payment option, and its price is not published.
A Business subscription does not include API usage, which is billed separately. Nonprofits can ask for up to a 75% discount on Business or Enterprise, and verified US K-12 teachers get a free plan through June 2027.
Context windows and models by plan
Table: ChatGPT context windows and models by plan
| Item | Free | Go | Plus | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GPT Instant total context window | 27K | 54K | 54K | 128K |
| GPT Instant input maximum (about) | 12 pages | 40 pages | 40 pages | 250 pages |
| GPT Reasoning total context window | varies | 256K | 256K | 400K |
| GPT Reasoning input maximum (about) | varies | 320 pages | 320 pages | 680 pages |
| GPT-6 Luna | Yes | Yes | Yes | Expanded |
| GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol | No | No | Yes | Expanded |
| GPT-5.6 Luna | No | No | Yes | Unlimited |
| GPT-5.6 Sol Pro | No | No | No | Yes |
| Codex | Limited | Limited | Yes | Expanded |
OpenAI notes that the space available for your input is smaller than the total window, because system instructions, memory and the model's own reasoning share it. The page figures are OpenAI's own approximation of the text you can paste in, and OpenAI warns they may change with the features in use. The ChatGPT Go help article still says Go's Think option uses GPT-5.6 Luna, which the pricing page lists only on Plus and Pro. For what a token is, see what is a token.
How do ChatGPT's usage limits work?
"Unlimited" in ChatGPT refers to everyday text chats and is "subject to abuse guardrails". Other features, such as images, uploads, voice, deep research and Codex, have limits that grow with the plan, and the models available can change during rollouts. OpenAI recommends the model picker for what your account can use today. There is no fixed message count on its pricing page.
Euros, VAT and billing currency
OpenAI's multi-currency article lists the euro for the European Economic Area, and notes that customers in the EEA may be asked for Strong Customer Authentication at purchase or renewal. The Europe Terms of Use (updated January 16, 2026) say that "all charges, including subscription fees, will be made clear to you before purchase" and do not mention VAT. If you buy as a business, OpenAI describes a process to request a VAT exemption. The ChatGPT Go help article adds that purchases are made in USD except in a limited set of countries with local-currency billing.
ChatGPT subscription or API?
A ChatGPT subscription does not include API usage: OpenAI says API usage is billed independently. The subscription suits people who work in the app; the API suits software that calls the model. To estimate API bills for a real workload, use our LLM API cost calculator, and if you are looking at the other assistants, read ChatGPT alternatives.
Which ChatGPT plan should you choose?
- You mostly chat and search: Free, which already has unlimited text chats.
- You want more images, uploads and voice at a low price: Go, accepting that it may carry ads.
- You use reasoning models, deep research or Codex often: Plus.
- You depend on it for hours a day: a Pro tier, starting with Pro 100.
- You work in a team of two or more: Business, with Premium seats for the heaviest users.
- You need SCIM, key management or data residency: Enterprise.

Frequently asked questions
Is ChatGPT free?
Yes. The free plan includes unlimited text chats with GPT-6 (GPT-6 Luna on Free and Go), subject to abuse guardrails, plus limited uploads, image creation, voice, deep research, memory, Codex and ChatGPT Work on desktop. Search, projects, study mode and the built-in browser are listed on every plan.
How much does ChatGPT Plus cost?
ChatGPT Plus costs $20 a month in the US, billed monthly, according to OpenAI's help center. From Spain the pricing page shows €23 a month. OpenAI does not say whether the euro price includes VAT, so check the total at checkout. There is no annual option for Plus.
What is the difference between ChatGPT Plus and Pro?
Pro includes everything in Plus and adds a choice of three usage tiers (Pro 100, 200 and 500 at $100, $200 and $500 a month), Pro reasoning powered by GPT-6 Astra, longer Codex and ChatGPT Work sessions, the always-on agent Dot, unlimited image creation and maximum deep research and memory. Ultrafast comes only with Pro 500.
Is ChatGPT Plus better than Go?
Plus adds advanced reasoning models with GPT-6, expanded deep research, expanded Codex usage, sites, image generation with Thinking and early access to features, and it does not carry the ads Go may include. Go costs €8 from Spain against €23 for Plus. Both have unlimited everyday text chats, so the gap is in reasoning, research and coding limits.
Is there an annual ChatGPT Plus plan?
No. OpenAI states it does not support annual billing, or paying several months in advance, for ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro. Only Business and Enterprise have annual plans. Subscriptions renew monthly and can be cancelled in Settings under Account.
How much is ChatGPT Business per user?
Standard seats cost $25 per user per month billed monthly or $20 billed annually in the US; the pricing page seen from Spain shows €26 monthly or €21 billed annually for teams of 2 to 200. Premium seats cost $125 monthly or $100 annually (€130 or €105 seen from Spain) and include 5x more usage than Standard seats and no five-hour limit. A workspace needs at least two seats, and OpenAI states it will not train on a Business workspace's data.
Does ChatGPT Plus include API access?
No. OpenAI says API usage is separate and billed independently from ChatGPT subscriptions, including Plus and Business. If you build software that calls the model, estimate the bill with the API pricing tables and our cost calculator rather than from the subscription price.
