Short answer

To make a presentation with ChatGPT on October 23, 2026 you can use the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in, available on all plans with limited use on Free and Go, or ChatGPT Slides on Pro, Business and Enterprise. Copilot works inside PowerPoint with a Microsoft 365 plan that includes it, Gemini builds editable decks in Google Slides on desktop and in English only, and Claude creates .pptx files on every plan. Ask for an outline first and check every number.

Prices and limits change often: check the vendor's page before you pay. How we make money.

You can make a presentation with ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini or Claude, and on October 23, 2026 all four produce editable slides rather than a wall of text to copy. They differ in where the slides live, which plans include them and how well they keep your template. This guide compares the four from their official help pages, read on October 23, 2026, and gives a method that works with any of them.

ChatGPT

OpenAI has two products for slides. ChatGPT for PowerPoint is an add-in you install from Home, Add-ins in PowerPoint, then sign in. It creates first drafts from notes, documents or spreadsheets, adds or revises slides and reviews a deck's story. OpenAI says it is available globally on Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, with limited usage on Free and Go and usage counted against your plan's agentic limits on paid plans, so large decks use more. Its own list of limitations is honest: generated slides may not always match your template perfectly, and some advanced chart, shape and formatting edits are limited.

ChatGPT Slides, rolling out in October 2026, builds a collaborative deck inside ChatGPT for Pro, Business and Enterprise with Space access. You ask in Work to create slides, edit text, images, tables and charts directly, share the deck so teammates edit at the same time and export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides. Our page on ChatGPT pricing explains the plans.

Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint

In PowerPoint, you start a new presentation, open Copilot Chat from the icon at the bottom right and describe the deck. Copilot may ask about the audience, length, template and images, and you can answer or let it decide. Business users can choose a Brand Kit with logos, fonts, colors and templates, and Microsoft's tips are practical: start from your organization's template, structure a Word document with Styles before turning it into slides and keep the Word file under 24 MB. Microsoft notes that Copilot might not appear if your Microsoft 365 subscription does not include it; our guide to Copilot pricing explains which plans do.

Gemini in Google Slides

In Google Slides, you click Presentation on the start screen, or Ask Gemini in a blank deck, and describe the topic and goal. You can add files from Drive as sources, let Gemini search the web, Drive, Chat or Gmail, and upload an existing deck to match its style. Gemini then shows a plan with an overview, the sources and an outline of each slide, which you can edit before clicking Approve. Generation can take a few minutes, and you must keep the tab open. Two limits matter: the feature needs an eligible Google Workspace or Google subscription and, on October 23, 2026, it is available on desktop and in English only.

Claude

Claude creates PowerPoint files by running code in the chat: you describe the presentation, attach your documents and download the result. Anthropic says code execution and file creation are available on every plan, Free included, on the web, desktop and mobile; on Free, Pro and Max you turn it on in Settings, Capabilities. Anthropic also offers Claude as an add-in for PowerPoint. If your files are sensitive, read its warning on network access: with internet access on, a prompt injection could trick the model into sending data out, which is why Team and Enterprise have it off by default.

A method that works with any of them

  1. Start from the content, not the design. Paste your notes, report or data and say who the audience is, what decision you want and how many slides.
  2. Ask for the outline first. OpenAI recommends asking for a plan before larger edits, and Gemini builds one by default. Fix the structure before any slide exists.
  3. Give it your template. All four work better from your own template or an example deck than from a blank page.
  4. Edit one slide at a time. Select the slide or element and describe the change, instead of regenerating the deck.
  5. Check every number and claim. OpenAI warns that outputs may be incomplete or incorrect, and hallucinations are most dangerous in a chart someone will present as fact.
